2026 Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary

The Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary is looking for students who aspire to pursue any commerce degree, along with an exceptional track record. If you’ve got your sights set on the stars and are willing to put in exceptional effort, you could earn a place on our high performance team. The bursary programme seeks to provide full support to well-rounded individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. In return, the bursary requires work-back commitment once their degree is completed.
Who Can Apply
Applicants should be well rounded and demonstrate character, leadership potential, and altruism. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged students.
The bursary programme will be aimed at candidates who meet the following criteria:
- South African Citizens
- Pursuing any undergraduate commerce-related degree.
- This bursary also allows applicants that are 2025 matric students; or on a gap-year after matric in 2024.
- All students registered for full-time studies at any DHET/CHE registered tertiary Institution (university, college, etc), in 2025.
- For the following NQF-7 qualifications: Bachelors Degree/Honours
- This opportunity is NOT open to:
- These qualification levels: N4/5/6, Higher Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Masters or Doctoral students.
- Students at these institution types: TVETs, Community Colleges, Private Colleges, Graduate/Business School, International universities, or Distance-learning qualifications (UNISA, etc)
- Academic performance:
- -Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 75% (or above), including Mathematics (not Math Literacy)
- -Tertiary level: Academic performance-average of 70% (or above) for the latest full academic-years (2024 and 2025 so far).
- Students registered as (first, second or third/final) year students in the following fields of study (will be preferred):
- Data Analysis / IT Stream Degrees
- Commerce Stream Degrees
- Finance Stream Degrees
- Computer Science Stream Degrees
- Software/Computer Engineering Stream Degrees
- Depending on application stage, candidates may be required to undergo screening, shortlisting, interview, and psychometric assessments.
Amongst qualifying applications, the following may be preferred:
- Applicants in line with the sponsor’s transformation/ employment equity objectives and requirements.
- Applicants in their 2nd year onwards.
- Applicants on track to finish their qualification in the minimum-time required (not N+1 or higher)
Additional Conditions to Note:
- Work-back OBLIGATION: You are obligated to work-back for every year of funding provided by Coronation, otherwise you may have to refund the value of the bursary benefits recieved (plus interest charges at the prime rate).
- Disclosure Requirement Note: Any applicant or awardee later revealed to not be studying full-time (or having undisclosed paid-employment); may have their bursary contract/offer terminated and required to refund all benefits paid to them by the bursary. This also applies to non-factual statements made on the application, during interviews, or after the bursary is awarded.
- Bursaries will only be awarded in line with the Employment Equity plan of the organisation.
