Sasol Learner: Administration Programme 2026 (Apply Before 26 August)

Sasol has opened applications for its Learner: Administration Programme, a 12 month learnership designed for unemployed South African youth who hold a Grade 12 certificate. This is a paid, structured opportunity that combines classroom based training with hands on workplace experience in administration, making it a strong entry point for young people who want to build a career in business support and office administration.

Applications close on 26 August 2026, so interested candidates should prepare their documents and apply as soon as possible.

About the Sasol Learner: Administration Programme

Sasol is a global integrated chemicals and energy company with a 75 year heritage across the sectors it operates in. The company positions its learnership programmes as part of a broader commitment to developing entry level talent and improving workplace readiness among young South Africans.

The Learner: Administration Programme runs for 12 months on a fixed term contract and combines two core components.

The first is a theoretical element aligned to a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Learnership. This covers entrepreneurship, business operations, customer service, business accounting, maths literacy, communication skills and computer skills.

The second is a practical, on site work experience component. During this phase, learners provide administrative support to managers and departments, gaining real workplace exposure that builds both confidence and employability.

The programme is aimed at building foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, communication and basic business principles, giving participants a solid base for future employment in administrative and business support roles.

Where the Programme Is Based

Sasol has confirmed that this learnership is available across the following locations:

  • Alrode
  • Germiston
  • Sandton
  • Sasolburg
  • Secunda

Applicants should consider which of these locations they are able to commute to or relocate for, since placement will depend on availability at each site.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Sasol Learner: Administration Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a completed National Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or Matric)
  • Be between 18 and 29 years of age
  • Be currently unemployed
  • Not be currently enrolled in any full time or part time studies

These requirements mean the programme is specifically targeted at young school leavers who have not yet entered formal employment or continued into further study, giving them a structured pathway into the world of work.

What You Will Be Expected to Do

Learners who are accepted onto the programme will be expected to:

  • Participate fully in the learnership programme and complete all required assessments
  • Take part in workplace readiness activities and exercises designed to prepare them for permanent employment

Sasol has also outlined the behavioural, technical and leadership competencies it wants learners to develop during the programme. These include nimble learning, workflow management, action planning, understanding of policies and procedures, managing complexity, self development, performance improvement, self awareness, the ability to execute and coordinate work, and accountability. Building these competencies during the learnership can make a real difference when learners later apply for permanent administrative roles.

Why This Learnership Is Worth Applying For

For young people who have completed Matric but have not yet found a way into the job market, a learnership like this offers several advantages. It provides a recognised qualification aligned to the NQF, practical workplace experience with a major employer, and exposure to real business operations rather than theory alone. Completing a learnership of this kind also strengthens a CV significantly, since it shows employers that a candidate already understands workplace expectations and has hands on administrative experience.

Sasol has stated that it welcomes applications from all candidates regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, ideology, disability, age or sexual identity, reflecting its stated commitment to diversity and equal opportunity in its recruitment process.
