About the SAB Apprenticeship Programme
At SAB, dreaming big is part of the culture. Through this 3–4 year apprenticeship programme, the company seeks to develop skilled young South Africans by providing technical training, mentorship, and real workplace experience.
The programme combines SETA-accredited learning with structured in-house training, offering apprentices the opportunity to build a strong foundation for their careers in engineering while working in a world-class production environment.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
- Minimum National Technical Certificate (N4) in a relevant trade.
- Higher qualifications such as N5 or N6 will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated engineering aptitude.
Trades Offered
SAB will be training apprentices in the following engineering disciplines:
- Millwright
- Fitter & Turner
- Electrical
- Instrumentation & Control
Key Responsibilities
Successful apprentices will:
- Complete a structured 3–4 year apprenticeship programme.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy work environment.
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental legislation.
- Gain hands-on technical skills and workplace knowledge.
- Manage plant, equipment, spares, and technical documentation.
- Plan, prepare, and budget for maintenance tasks.
- Evaluate, repair, and maintain machinery.
- Continuously work to improve systems, processes, and equipment.
- Develop machine-specific technical competence.
