Duration: 1-year contract
Salary: R75,600.00 per annum (all-inclusive)

The Cape Winelands District Municipality is inviting unemployed graduates to apply for the Disaster Management Internship Programme 2025. Internship Overview

The Disaster Management Internship Programme provides practical work exposure to graduates, offering training in disaster risk reduction and operational support in disaster management. Interns will gain hands-on experience by assisting with incident response, stakeholder coordination, community awareness campaigns, and administrative functions within the Division: Disaster Management.

Job Purpose

Successful candidates will play an active role in:

  • Assisting with responses to incidents and disasters.
  • Compiling and submitting Disaster Management reports.
  • Coordinating stakeholder engagements and communication.
  • Supporting the roll-out of Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives.
  • Liaising with role-players on incidents, risk assessments, and early warning systems.
  • Assisting in training and awareness programmes for communities.
  • Providing general administrative support to the Division.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • National Diploma or Degree in Disaster Management, Public Administration, Office Administration, or a related qualification.
  • Certified copy of academic records and results sheet.
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS – ability to use Google Earth is required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Physically fit and able to work in inclement weather conditions.

  • 1 position in Paarl
  • 1 position in Worcester
  • 1 position in Robertson
