EASTC Technocentric Varsity Skills Development Programme 2025

The Gauteng Department of Economic Development, in partnership with EASTC Technocentric Varsity, is launching the Skills Development Programme 2025 — a powerful initiative designed to empower unemployed youth with technical and vocational training.

This programme focuses on the Clothing, Textile, Leather, and Footwear (CTLF) sector, one of South Africa’s fast-growing industries with huge potential for both employment and entrepreneurship.

Far more than just training, this opportunity provides hands-on practical experience that equips young people to thrive in manufacturing, design, and small business development.


What the Programme Offers

The Clothing, Textile, Leather, and Footwear Skills Development Programme will run for 12 months in the City of Tshwane. It combines classroom learning with real-world training, giving participants practical exposure to core areas of the CTLF industry, including:

  • Clothing Manufacturing – Cutting, sewing, and garment production.
  • Textile Processing – Preparing and treating fabrics for production.
  • Leather Goods Production – Creating high-quality leather products such as belts, bags, and accessories.
  • Footwear Design – Designing and producing durable, stylish shoes.

By the end of the programme, learners will be equipped with industry-ready skills, opening doors to full-time employment or entrepreneurship in the fashion and manufacturing sectors.


Minimum Requirements

To apply for the EASTC Skills Development Programme 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 18 to 35 years old.
  • Reside in the City of Tshwane and be able to travel to the training venue.
  • Have completed at least Grade 10.
  • Be currently unemployed.
  • Show a genuine interest in the Clothing, Textile, Leather, and Footwear industry.
  • Be willing to commit to the full 12-month programme.
  • Demonstrate passion for manufacturing, textiles, leather, or footwear design.

Required Application Documents

Applicants must prepare the following certified documents (not older than three months):

  • A detailed CV.
  • A certified copy of your South African ID.
  • Copies of educational qualifications.
  • Proof of residence in Tshwane.
