- South African Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Age: Candidates must be between 18 and 34 years old.
- Education: A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent is required. Those with a post-matric certificate or program will also be considered.

- Study Status: Individuals who are studying full-time in the year of employment are not eligible. The program requires full-time commitment.
- Previous YES Participation: Candidates who have previously participated in or registered for the YES initiative are not eligible to apply again. This allows new individuals to benefit from the program.
