Gauteng College of Nursing – Student Nurse Intake 2026

The Gauteng College of Nursing (GCON) has officially opened applications for the Student Nurse Intake 2026, giving aspiring healthcare professionals the chance to pursue a Diploma in Nursing at one of its four leading campuses:
- Ann Latsky Campus
- Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus
- SG Lourens Campus
- Bonalesedi Campus

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:
- Be a South African citizen and a resident of Gauteng Province.
- Hold one of these school leaving certificates:
- Senior Certificate
- National Senior Certificate
- National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health)
- Currently in Grade 12
Applications must be submitted online only via the GPG Professional Job Centre before the closing date of 26 September 2025. No hand-delivered, posted, or emailed applications will be accepted.

Applicants must create a profile on the system, upload the required documents, and, if shortlisted, submit additional documentation during the selection process.
Minimum Academic Requirements
Senior Certificate holders
- English HG (D) or SG (C)
- Biology HG (D) or SG (C)
- Mathematics HG (D) or SG (C)
- M-Score: 17
National Senior Certificate holders
- English Level 4
- Life Sciences Level 4
- Mathematics Level 4 OR Mathematical Literacy Level 5
- APS: 27 or higher (Life Orientation counts half the score)
National Vocational Certificate holders
- 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation)
- 60% in Vocational Subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, Human Body and Mind, Community Oriented Primary Care)
Current Grade 12 learners
- Must meet the NSC requirements based on their Grade 11 final results.

Recruitment and Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo:
- A compulsory psychometric assessment
- Medical surveillance, including a physical examination
- Verification of all submitted documents

Programme Commitments
Students accepted into the Gauteng College of Nursing Student Nurse Intake 2026 must commit to the following:
- Signing an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health
- Attending lectures at their assigned campus
- Participating in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes working shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays in Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics
