Jones & Wagener is looking for Civil Technician Interns

Jones & Wagener is looking for two Civil Technician Interns, who will have direct reporting lines to a Technical Director (head office). The interns will be based on site in Lephalale, Limpopo and shall work closely and collaborate with a Senior Resident Engineer to provide monitoring and QA services on the site.
Terms of employment: Fixed term Contract – 12 months
Salary package: Market related salary including company benefits, dependent on individuals experience and qualifications.
The requirements associated with the position are as follows (mandatory):
- Senior certificate (Matric)
- National Diploma in civil engineering
- 0 to 1.5 years’ experience

- Solid organization, time-management skills, and diligence.
- Works independently.
- Effective communication skills.

The main duties associated with the position include the following:
- Monitoring construction activities
- Evaluating progress on site.
- Issuing site instructions and correspondence to Employer and Contractor.
- Measurement of quantities and compiling schedules of quantities.
- Liaising with design engineer where clarifications on drawings, construction methodology and specification are required.
- Attend meetings with clients.
- Undertake construction site monitoring activities including QA/QC, inspection of the works, record keeping, approval of materials, issuing of site instructions, adjudication of claims, and certification of the works.
- Monitoring progress on site, evaluating progress reports submitted by the Contractor and providing schedule inputs/feedback to Contractor to avoid delays.
