The King Cetshwayo District Municipality is calling on motivated and ambitious young professionals to apply for its Internship Programme 2025.
This initiative is designed to provide hands-on municipal finance experience, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application.

The programme offers positions in three specialised areas:

  • Finance Treasury Internship – 1 position
  • Finance Internships – 5 positions
  • Finance Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Internships – 5 positions

About the Internship Programme

The King Cetshwayo Municipality Internship Programme is part of the municipality’s commitment to skills development, youth empowerment, and local economic growth.
Interns will gain practical exposure to municipal financial operations, reporting, budgeting, and treasury functions—key areas that support efficient public service delivery.


Internship Opportunities Available

1. Finance Treasury Internship (1 Post)

This position is ideal for candidates interested in treasury operations and municipal cash flow management. Duties will include:

  • Budget monitoring and analysis
  • Cash and liquidity management
  • Financial reporting in line with municipal regulations

2. Finance Internships (5 Posts)

Finance Interns will rotate through various finance units to develop a broad skill set, including:

  • Budget and expenditure tracking
  • Accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Financial record keeping and compliance

3. Finance Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Internships (5 Posts)

Designed for students completing compulsory practical training as part of their qualification, these internships offer:

  • Compilation of financial data for reports
  • Support for municipal financial systems
  • Assistance with audits and reconciliations

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Finance Treasury Internship

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Preferably final-year students or recent graduates with coursework in treasury, cash management, or public finance
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Finance Internships

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or related discipline
  • Preferably final-year students or recent graduates with modules in budgeting, bookkeeping, or local government finance
  • Good numeracy skills and attention to detail

Finance Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Internships

  • Currently enrolled in a tertiary institution requiring WIL credits for Accounting, Finance, or related qualification
  • Completed coursework in areas such as financial reporting or systems training
  • Eagerness to apply academic knowledge in a municipal environment
