Limpopo Department of Health: 350 Malaria Spray Operator Vacancies 2025

The Limpopo Department of Health is recruiting 350 Malaria Spray Operators for 2025. This programme is part of the province’s ongoing fight against malaria, aimed at protecting vulnerable communities while creating much-needed job opportunities for unemployed youth and community members across Limpopo.

  • Positions Available: Temporary Malaria Spray Operators (350 posts)
  • Daily Stipend: R310.00
  • Contract Duration: 132 days
  • Location: Various districts in Limpopo, including Mopani, Vhembe, Waterberg, Sekhukhune, and Capricorn

Why Malaria Spray Operators Are Essential

Limpopo remains one of South Africa’s provinces most affected by malaria, with seasonal outbreaks continuing to threaten rural households. Spray Operators play a vital role in the Malaria Control Programme, carrying out indoor residual spraying (IRS) to stop the spread of this life-threatening disease.

Their contribution directly reduces infections, saves lives, and strengthens public health systems. These positions are not only jobs, but essential services that make a lasting impact in local communities.


Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Malaria Spray Operator posts, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
  • Basic reading, writing, and calculation skills
  • Physically fit and able to carry malaria spray cans for indoor spraying and water treatment activities
  • Ability to work with chemicals safely and responsibly

Key Performance Areas

Successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of operational and support tasks, including:

  • Mixing insecticides for spraying operations
  • Loading and offloading spraying equipment and related goods
  • Assisting households by moving and covering property before spraying
  • Cleaning functions at malaria stations, including vehicles, spray cans, buildings, and surrounding areas
  • Completing spray and hut cards (SP 1) during operations
  • Capturing data accurately during and after spray cycles
  • Conducting environmental and community surveillance as part of malaria control measures
