About Two Rivers Platinum Mine

Two Rivers Platinum Mine is a joint venture between African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) (54%) and Impala Platinum (46%) and is managed by ARM.

Job Purpose

To effectively operate a stoping panel and/or development end during a shift by ensuring safe working practices, continuous inspection of panel and/or end conditions, planning to achieve operational targets and monitoring the availability of resources. The miner has legal accountability for stoping panel/ development end and blasting in terms of the MHSA, will be required to contribute and assist the panel team with the execution of all the panel tasks.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 10 or equivalent;
  • Competent A&B certificate is a requirement;
  • Blasting Certificate (DMRE/MQA Level 3)

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum of one-year experience as a Crew Captain
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a trackless mining environment;
  • At least three years’ Platinum experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures the crew adheres to required PPE
  • Participate in required Safety meetings
  • Conducts accidents and incidents investigations and
  • implement necessary precautions to avoid reoccurrence
  • Communicate the daily mining plans to the crew
  • Allocation of responsibilities to the crew
  • Provision of required support to the crew when necessary
  • Daily conducts re-entry examinations
  • Conducts risk assessments
  • Marking off of support
  • Identifying of reef band and mark the face as per the geological reports
  • Charging up of the face and safe blasting
  • Provide information to the control room for the compilation of shift/work reports
  • Accurately complete role administration requirements
  • The miner has legal accountability for stoping panel/ development end and blasting in terms of the MHSA, will be required to contribute and assist the panel team with the execution of all the panel tasks.
