The Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land Bank), in partnership with the Land Bank Insurance Company (LBIC), invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Actuarial Learnership Programme 2025 / 2026. This 24-month programme offers structured learning, practical workplace experience, and mentorship to prepare participants for a career in the agricultural financial services sector.

About Land Bank

Established in 1912, the Land Bank is South Africa’s only specialist agricultural bank, dedicated to supporting both commercial and emerging farmers. Programme Purpose

The Actuarial Learnership Programme aims to:

  • Provide graduates with hands-on work experience in actuarial and insurance-related fields.
  • Develop professional and technical skills through structured training and mentorship.
  • Offer exposure to real-world workplace duties and career growth opportunities in the agricultural financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

Participants in the programme will:

  • Complete assigned tasks professionally under the guidance of a mentor.
  • Enhance personal skills in their area of specialization (actuarial sciences, insurance, etc.).
  • Perform administrative duties as allocated, including organizing reports and managing correspondence.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports, presentations, memorandums, and other documents.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A completed tertiary qualification in one of the following fields:
    • Actuarial Sciences
    • Mathematical Statistics
    • Data Science
    • Insurance-related studies
  • Experience: No prior work experience after completing tertiary studies.
  • Age: Between 18 and 35 years.
  • South African citizenship.

Critical Competencies

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to meet deadlines with high energy and enthusiasm.
  • Strong initiative and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work extended hours when required.
  • Willingness to travel when necessary.
