The National School of the Arts (NSA) has a vacancy for a part-time GDE drama teacher to commence at the start of the 2025 academic year.
The successful applicant must be equipped to teach Dramatic Arts (CAPS) from Grade 8 – 12. The incumbent will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of the curriculum.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor of ARTS or any relevant REQV13 qualification with a PGCE. All applicants must be SACE registered or able to secure the relevant SACE certification. A professional career and previous teaching experience will be an advantage.
Those shortlisted candidate will be required to teach a drama class as part of the interview process.
The successful candidate should be a good team player, willing to work outside of regular school hours and be an enthusiastic participant in the school’s cultural programme. Passion, patience, and an ability to motivate and inspire, alongside a firm grip on discipline, will see the incumbent thriving in the specialist art school environment.
With a history that spans 50 years, the National School of the Arts is South Africa’s oldest public-funded School of Specialisation in Performing and Creative Arts. Situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, the NSA is a Gauteng Department of Education School.
