It’s an exceptional opportunity for individuals who have completed their National Diploma in Office Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Sales and are eager to enhance their practical skills and gain significant experience in a professional work environment.
Your Role in the Sales & Marketing Function: Supporting Revenue Maximization
You’ll be an integral part of the Sales & Marketing function, working closely with the Provincial Sales Manager and Account Executives. Your primary objective will be to provide essential support that contributes directly to the maximization of revenue for SABC. This involves a diverse range of responsibilities that will expose you to various facets of sales operations and client management.
Key Accountabilities: What You’ll Be Doing
The Sales Assistant Internship is a hands-on role with a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including:
Client Interaction and Support
- Building and maintaining strong internal and external networks to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Answering telephone calls and assisting customers with their inquiries.
- Directing sales leads to the appropriate sales team members.
- Liaising with clients, handling inquiries, purchase orders, SBD/Vendor forms, and responding to emails.
- Following up on material and fighting instructions for campaigns.
- Promoting and selling SABC products and services, and explaining promotional offers.
- Handling all queries and complaints, escalating when necessary, and answering questions about platforms and services.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Assisting with Trade Marketing Initiatives as applicable.
- Updating and maintaining the client database, ensuring all client information is accurate in conjunction with the Account Executive.
- Accurate storage and quick retrieval of information and documentation.
- Processing SAP Purchase Requisitions and Service Entry Sheets.
- Arranging travel (flights, accommodation, car hire) for staff via SAP.
- Ordering stationery for the department through SAP.
- Obtaining and listening to audio/visuals and sending them to Account Executives across all provinces.
- Collecting data from internal stakeholders to complete quarterly sales meeting data templates and presentations.
- Tracking sales expenses and retrieving figures for sales report input.
- Retrieving daily and weekly tracking of bookings for internal sales.
- Preparing deals management documentation and obtaining required signatures (e.g., term sheets).
- Arranging and organizing meetings, workshops, events, and conferences.
- Pre-planning quarterly review appointments (internal and external).
- Taking and distributing minutes for weekly staff meetings.
- Filing, scanning, and managing emails.
Financial and Managerial Assistance
- Managing the department’s budget, including moving funds for travel, stationery, and refreshments.
- Liaising with procurement for various needs.
- Managing team diaries to ensure efficient scheduling.

- Education: A National Diploma (NQF 6) in Marketing, Communications, Sales, or a relevant tertiary qualification.
