Application criteria:
The following mandatory criteria apply:
- Applications are open to Black Female South African citizens only (Black as defined in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 46 of 2013, is a generic term which means African. Coloured and Indian)
- Black female students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
- Students must have completed their 1 year of study with a minimum 60% pass aggregate
- Household income less than R600 000 (six hundred thousand rand) per annum
- Repeat courses and outstanding balances from previous years are not funded
Closing date for applications is 28 February 2025
Required fields of study:
Preference is given to students in the following streams:
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering.
- In order to fulfil its mandate, the Trust has a legitimate interest in processing personal information subject to applicable laws. The ABB Education Trust will process such personal information provided by students with or as part of their application in accordance with the ABB Education Trust Privacy Statement, available upon request via email.
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be a Black Female (Black as defined in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 46 of 2013, is a generic term which means African, Coloured and Indian)
- You must be studying towards a qualification within one of the fields of study listed above
- You must have completed your 1st year of study with a minimum overall average of 60%
- You must be entering your 2nd or higher year of study in 2025
- You must be studying at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
- You must have a total household income LESS than R600 000 per annum
- Black female students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
The following documents need to be submitted via email as part of the application:
- Full academic record since grade 12
- Proof of 2025 university registration
- 2025 university fees statement
- Proof of student accommodation and costs, or proof of travel cost estimates if staying at home
- Copy of South African identity card
- Evidence of financial need (parents/guardian proof of income)
