The BASF External Bursary Programme is a 12-month programme that is designed to empower the youth of South Africa by providing funding Higher Education Studies.
You qualify for this programme if:
- You are studying or plan to study full-time at a recognised Institution of Higher Learning in South Africa
- You have a latest Academic Record with an Average Mark of, at least, 65%.
- You are a South African Citizen
The Bursary Programme covers the following expenses:
- University Tuition Fees
- University Accredited Accommodation
- Textbook Allowance
- Laptop Allowance for the first year of the programme
- Meal Allowance

Engineering
- Chemical,
- Industrial,
- Mining,
- Mechanical,
- Metallurgical,
- Biomedical,
BSc
- Chemistry,
- Microbiology,
- Biochemistry,
- Biotechnology,
- Pharmacy,
- Agriculture.

Eligibility
- South African Citizenship
- Black Female Student: Only black female students, as per BBBEE
- Must have a strong academic record.
- Must come from a financially disadvantaged background and meet NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) funding requirements.
- Must be studying at a recognized South African university or university of technology.
- No Criminal Record
- No Other Funding: Apart from NSFAS funding, applicants should not have received any other scholarship, bursary, or grant for the 2025 academic year

Required Documents
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate/ results (certified copy)
- Full academic record, including most recent results (certified copy)
- Parent or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed, audited financial statements if self-employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of grant or pension if applicable) (certified copies)
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 3 pages)
- Essay on the following topic: “The current and future state of my field of study, how I will contribute when I graduate, and why I should receive financial support to study in this field.” (12pt font, 1.5 line spacing in Microsoft Word or PDF, 2 pages)
