The Department of Agriculture Bursary Programme for 2026

The Department of Agriculture (DoA) intends to award comprehensive bursaries to qualifying applicants pursuing and/or intending to further their studies in identified careers in the agriculture sector for the 2026 academic year. The bursary will cover tuition, accommodation, books, meals and a monthly allowance. The bursary awards target the previously disadvantaged and impoverished persons from
poverty-stricken and rural communities.

- BSc Eng. Agricultural (Bioresource) Engineering
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.)
- BSc Agric. Entomology
- BSc Agric. Food Science
- BSc Agric. Animal Science
- BSc Agric. Plant Pathology
- BSc Agric. Soil Science
- BSc Agric. Agronomy
- BSc Agric. Viticulture and Oenology
- BAS Food Science and Technology
- Diploma in Food Technology
- Advance Diploma in agriculture related fields
Requirements
- Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Be currently in Grade 12 (Matrin or have completed Matric
- intend to study full-time in one of the listed fields at a South African tertiary institution
- Be from a previously disadvantaged, rural, or poverty-stricken community
- Not be a staff member of the Department of Agriculture
- Meet the required academic performance criteria for your chosen field
- Be a person living with a disability (encouraged to apply)

- Incomplete applications or those for unlisted fields will not be considered.
- Applications may be submitted while awaiting Matric results or university acceptance letters, but these must be emailed within 3 days after results are released in January 2026
- Only successful applicants will be contacted within 14 days after Matric results are published
