The Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDOE) bursary for fulltime studies

The Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDOE) is inviting RSA Citizens, Unemployed Youth (18 – 35) from the province, to apply for a bursary for fulltime studies at registered public South African Higher Education Institution.

Financially needy applicants, performing academically well will be prioritised. Current Grade 12 Learners are welcome to apply, completed Students who are already enrolled at a Higher Public Education Institution without any funding are also invited to apply.

Military Veteran Dependant’s Bursary

A special investment has been set aside by the ECDoE through its Special Programmes for unemployed youth who are Military Veteran Dependants. This bursary is a special project within ECDOE unemployed bursaries programmes.

Requirements:

• Application Letter
• Bursary Application form
• Proof of Registration/ Admission from the institution of choice. (Public Institution)
• Certified ID copy.
• Certified Matric Certificate
• Proof of dependency to a Military Veteran.

Benefits:

• The Bursary pays up to maximum of R100 000.00, depending from an Institution to Institution of Higher Learning
• The Bursary covers: Registration, Tuition, Residence, Meals and Books

Bursary for Unemployed Youth Living With Disabilities

A new opportunity has been created by the ECDOE through HRD for unemployed youth with disabilities who are former students of ECDoE Special Schools. This special programme seeks to achieve the objective of creation of equal access to skills programmes offered by the Department to all unemployed youth of the EC Province. The following programmes are targeted to be offered:

• Handyman Program (Tiling and Plastering, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Plumbing and Painting)
• Assistant Chef Programme
• Hair Dressing
• Art (Music, Ceramic Designs, Fine Arts)
• Dress making
• Beadmaking
• Boiler making
• Auto body and painting
• Holistic Massage and Beauty

Requirements:

• Applicants must be between the age of 18 – 45.
• Former ECDoE learner of ECDoE Special School

Required documents to be submitted:

• Application Letter
• Testimonial from the former school
• Proof of Registration/ Admission from the institution of choice.

Benefits:

• The Bursary will cover: Registration, Tuition, Residence, Meals and Books
• If the applicant is selected for skills programme, the Department will provide for Tuition, Venues and Catering to all successful applicants.
