Background & Job Description
Position: Over-the-Counter Assistant (P13)
Location: Durban (6 positions), Pietermaritzburg (2 positions), Richards Bay (2 positions), Newcastle (2 positions)
Contract Duration: Three Months Fixed Term
The University of South Africa (UNISA) is looking for multiple Over-the-Counter Assistants to support the Department of Despatch in the KwaZulu-Natal region. These roles involve assisting in the picking, packing, and distribution of study material for students who choose counter collection as an option during registration.

Tasks
- Handle the picking, packing, and shipping of pre-packed study material parcels.
- Remove study materials not collected within three days, unless alternative arrangements are made by the student.
- Record details of study material collected by students, including tracking what has been collected, by whom, and in what quantities.
- Provide support for other warehouse operations as needed, with appropriate training provided.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
- Must currently be a registered UNISA student.
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of handling pressure and meeting deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and concentration.
- Willingness to learn new processes and systems.
- Flexibility to work overtime if required.
Recommendations
- Knowledge of general supply chain processes and warehouse operations.
- Completion of at least 10 modules at UNISA.
