UPPSALA UNIVERSITY IN SWEDEN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PROSPECTIVE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

There are a number of scholarships available each year for fee-paying international students who are applying to an international Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Uppsala University.

Some scholarships are specifically designated for students who are applying to one of Uppsala University’s Master’s programmes, while others are open to both Master’s and Bachelor’s applicants. Some scholarships are open for all citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, whilst others are only open to citizens of certain countries.

The scholarships available for application may vary from year to year. The list of citizenships that are eligible for the King Carl Gustaf Scholarship also varies from year to year. Before you submit your application(s), be sure to read the information about each scholarship thoroughly and that you understand the conditions. You may apply to more than one scholarship programmes, as long as you fulfil the eligibility criteria. However, it is only possible to receive one scholarship from Uppsala University.

The scholarships are only for on-campus programmes based in Uppsala or on Gotland, and for programmes mainly taught at Uppsala University. You can only be awarded a scholarship for programmes that you apply via universityadmissions.se. However, you cannot be awarded a scholarship for the Master’s programmes in Religion in Peace and ConflictBiology Genetic and Molecular Plant ScienceBiology NABiS Nordic Master in Biodiversity and SystematicsSino-Swedish Master in Computer Science – Software Engineering, or the Joint Nordic Master’s Programme in Environmental Law.

APPLICATION PERIOD

The application period for scholarships provided by Uppsala University for prospective students is from 16 January to 1 February 2021.

The deadline is 23:59 CET (Central European Time) 1 February 2021. Please consider the time zone. Applications received after the deadline will not be processed.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must first submit an application for a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Uppsala University on universityadmissions.se between 16 October 2020 and 15 January 2021. The programme at Uppsala University must be ranked as your first priority of choice. The scholarship application period starts after this step.

To apply for our scholarships, you need to submit an online application form during our scholarship application period. Access to the application form will be available on this page during the scholarship application period 16 January – 1 February 2021.

We will also review the supporting documents that you submit for your programme application at universityadmissions.se. Therefore, you do not need to submit any extra documents in your scholarship application form.

UPPSALA UNIVERSITY GLOBAL SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition fees for studies at Uppsala University. It is for Master’s programmes that start on 30 August 2021 and are offered during the current admission round. The scholarships do not cover living expenses.

Level of study:

Master’s programmes

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  • You must demonstrate academic talent and show interest in being in an educational environment.
  • You can only be awarded an Uppsala University Global Scholarship for a Master’s programme at Uppsala University chosen as first priority (the programme which you have ranked the highest of the four programmes you can choose at University Admissions).
  • You must have applied for the Master’s programme before the University Admissions deadline.
  • You must meet the entry requirements for the Master’s programme you applied for. The application fee and your complete supporting documents must be received by University Admissions before the deadline.

ANDERS WALL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION FOR STUDIES AT UPPSALA UNIVERSITY

The scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition fees for studies at Uppsala University. It is for degree programmes that start on 30 August 2021 and are offered during the current admission round. The scholarships do not cover living expenses.

Level of study: 

Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of the People’s Republic of China.
  • You must demonstrate academic talent and show interest in being in an educational environment.
  • You can only be awarded an Anders Wall Scholarship for a degree programme at Uppsala University chosen as first priority (the programme which you have ranked the highest of the programmes you can choose at University Admissions).
  • You must have applied for the Bachelor’s or Master’s programme before the University Admissions deadline.
  • You must meet the entry requirements for the programme you applied to. The application fee and your complete supporting documents must be received by University Admissions before the deadline. 

THE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION OF THE SWEDISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN HONG KONG

The scholarships will cover the entire cost or part of tuition fees for studies at Uppsala University. It is for degree programmes that start on 30 August 2021 and are offered during the current admission round. The scholarships do not cover living expenses.

Level of study: 

Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a resident of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.
  • You must demonstrate academic talent and show interest in being in an educational environment.
  • You can only be awarded this scholarship for a degree programme at Uppsala University chosen as first priority (the programme which you have ranked the highest of the programmes you can choose at University Admissions).
  • You must have applied for the Bachelor’s or Master’s programme before the University Admissions deadline.
  • You must meet the entry requirements for the programme you applied to. The application fee and your complete supporting documents must be received by University Admissions before the deadline. 

THE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION OF THE SWEDISH-AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN NEW YORK

The scholarships will cover the entire cost or part of the tuition fees for studies at Uppsala University. It is for degree programmes that start on 30 August 2021 and are offered during the current admission round. The scholarships do not cover living expenses.  

Level of study: 

Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be an American citizen.
  • You must demonstrate academic talent and show interest in being in an educational environment.
  • You can only be awarded this scholarship for a degree programme at Uppsala University chosen as first priority (the programme which you have ranked the highest of the programmes you can choose at University Admissions).
  • You must have applied for the Bachelor’s or Master’s programme before the University Admissions deadline.
  • You must meet the entry requirements for the programme you applied to. The application fee and your complete supporting documents must be received by University Admissions before the deadline.

UPPSALA UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Uppsala University President’s Club Scholarship aims to encourage a highly qualified international Master’s student. The scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition fees for programmes offered during the current admission round and commencing 30 August 2021. The scholarship does not cover living expenses. 

Level of study: 

Master’s programmes   

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  • You must demonstrate academic talent and show interest in being in an educational environment.
  • You can only be awarded the Uppsala University President’s Club Scholarship for a Master’s programme at Uppsala University chosen as first priority (the programme which you have ranked the highest of the four programmes you can choose at University Admissions).
  • You must have applied for the Master’s programme before the University Admissions deadline.
  • You must meet the entry requirements for the programme you applied to. The application fee and your complete supporting documents must be received by University Admissions before the deadline.

THE KING CARL GUSTAF SCHOLARSHIP

The King Carl Gustaf Scholarship is aimed at students who live in unsafe and dangerous conditions in areas of conflict outside Europe. The scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition fees for studies at Uppsala University. It is for Master’s programmes that start on 30 August 2021 and are offered during the current admission round. The scholarships do not cover living expenses.    

Level of study: 

Master’s programmes    

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Iraq, Libya, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen.
  • You must show why you are particularly vulnerable and therefore in need of the educational environment at Uppsala University, as well as that you have the academic talent required.
  • You can only be awarded a King Carl Gustaf scholarship for a Master’s programme at Uppsala University chosen as first priority (the programme which you have ranked the highest of the four programmes you can choose at University Admissions).
  • You must have applied for the Master’s programme before the University Admissions deadline.
  • You must meet the entry requirements for the programme you applied to. The application fee and your complete supporting documents must be received by University Admissions before the deadline.
