Utilityman X8 (Vaal Dam) – External/Internal Vacancy
Eskom is seeking a dedicated and experienced Utilityman X8 for their Bulk Material Handling department at the Vaal Dam. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to essential operations within the Bulk Material Services Business Unit. The position is based in Gauteng, South Africa.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The Utilityman X8 will primarily be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean workshop environment. This involves a variety of heavy laboring tasks, including the lifting, carrying, pushing, holding, and moving of equipment and materials. Specific responsibilities include:
- Workshop Maintenance: Ensuring the workshop is consistently maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- Tools, Equipment, and Housekeeping: Proper handling, organization, and upkeep of tools and equipment, along with maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
- Workshop Toolbox Talks: Actively participating in and contributing to workshop toolbox talks, which are crucial for safety and operational efficiency.
- SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality): Adhering to all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality protocols and procedures.
Minimum Requirements and Desired Profile
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Education: A Grade 12 certificate is essential.
- Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in the cleaning of workshops.
- 1-2 years of experience within a technical field.

- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong abilities to interact positively with colleagues and communicate clearly.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of relevant procedures and regulations:
- Workshop Cleaning Procedures: Awareness of the specific cleaning work procedures for workshops.
- Safety Rules and Regulations: Basic understanding of fundamental safety rules and regulations.
- Tool and Equipment Utilization: Ability to identify and correctly utilize various tools and equipment.
- Practical (Technical) Skills: Demonstrated practical technical skills.
- OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act): Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
