Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this Administrative Officer role, applicants need:
- A Grade 12 certificate (NQF 4)
- A qualification at NQF Level 6 in Office Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Administration, Office Management, Public Management, or Business Management
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in the field of administration
Candidates should also have sound and in-depth knowledge of relevant public service prescripts, an understanding of human resources application, and familiarity with the legislative framework governing the Public Service, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.

Key Duties
As an Administrative Officer in the Development Cooperation directorate, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Controlling documentation within the directorate
- Managing the mail register, and receiving, registering and disseminating documents to relevant people and between directorates
- Administering the human resource management function, including managing, updating and controlling personnel records on leave, training, assessments and promotions
- Assisting in administering the directorate’s budget and conditional grant
- Compiling expenditure reports and assisting in the allocation of budget to activities in the operational plan
- Maintaining the directorate’s filing system and ensuring the safekeeping of information and documentation
- Arranging meetings, workshops, functions, accommodation and travel for officials
- Placing orders and administering payments for workshops, catering, conferences and departmental entertainment
This broad scope of responsibilities gives successful candidates well rounded exposure to document control, human resources, budget administration and event coordination within a national government department.
