Important Notes for Both Posts
- Certified copies of qualifications are not required at application stage for either post. Shortlisted candidates for the Student Support Services Officer post submit these before the interview, following communication from Human Resources, while shortlisted Transport Officer candidates are asked to bring certified copies of qualifications and their ID on the day of the interview
- Both colleges apply a two-stage pre-entry assessment process for shortlisted candidates: a practical exercise testing suitability against the post’s technical and generic requirements, and a separate integrity and ethical conduct assessment
- Shortlisted candidates for both posts undergo personnel suitability checks, covering criminal record, citizenship, credit record, qualification verification, and employment verification
- Feedback timelines differ between the two colleges. Mthashana TVET College advises that if you haven’t heard back within 8 weeks of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful. Goldfields TVET College’s timeline is 3 months
- Both colleges are equal opportunity affirmative action employers, with employment decisions guided by each institution’s Employment Equity Plan, and preference given to candidates from designated groups with regard to race, gender, and disability
- Neither college guarantees an appointment will be made, and both reserve the right not to fill the advertised posts
Final Thoughts
Both of these posts offer a genuine route into the public TVET sector at Salary Level 07, one centred on student wellbeing and development at Mthashana TVET College, the other on fleet and transport management at Goldfields TVET College. Since the two colleges use different application channels, different closing dates, and slightly different documentation requirements, make sure you apply to the correct email address with the correct reference number well before each respective deadline.
