Implats Bursary Programme 2027: Requirements, Fields of Study and Closing Date
Impala Platinum Refineries has opened its Tertiary Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year, aimed at high-performing Grade 12 learners who want to build a career in engineering or science. The bursary covers tuition, accommodation and study materials, and comes with guaranteed December and January vacation work at the Refineries in Springs, Gauteng, so recipients graduate with both a funded degree and real workplace experience.

Fields of Study Supported
The bursary is open to learners planning to study the following NQF Level 7 (degree) programmes:
- Electrical Engineering (preferably Heavy Current)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering
- Chemistry
If your intended degree does not fall into one of these four categories, you will not be eligible for this particular intake.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Implats Bursary Programme 2027, applicants must:
- Currently be in Grade 12
- Have a minimum of 60% (Level 5) in Mathematics
- Have a minimum of 60% (Level 5) in English
- Have a minimum of 60% (Level 5) in Physical Science
These are minimum thresholds. Because the programme is competitive, learners with marks well above 60% in these subjects will stand a stronger chance of being shortlisted.

Who Gets Preference
