About the Programme
The Transnet Young Professionals in Training Programme is a 24-month structured development initiative that bridges the gap between academic learning and the professional workplace. Graduates are offered hands-on experience, exposure to multiple business units, and mentorship from industry leaders.
Participants will be rotated through different divisions, gaining exposure to projects, leadership opportunities, and daily operations. This holistic experience ensures graduates build a strong foundation for long-term careers in logistics, transport, and corporate services.
Position Purpose
The programme is hosted at the Transnet Corporate Centre and Academy. It is aimed at dynamic, recently qualified graduates who are eager to apply their skills in a professional environment. Over the course of two years, participants will receive structured workplace training supported by a formal learning framework.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities
As a Young Professional in Training, your role will include:
- Shadowing staff members and participating in workplace learning activities.
- Attending meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
- Assisting with administrative tasks, research, and reporting.
- Communicating with clients to ensure clarity of needs and progress updates.
- Addressing queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborating with mentors and specialists to complete assigned projects.
- Producing high-quality work that contributes to business solutions.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Relevant academic qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) – completed articles or admitted attorney.
- National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science or Statistics.
- National Diploma/Degree in Digital Marketing or Communications.
- BCom Degree in Finance, Cost Management, or Internal Audit.
- National Diploma/Degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health.
- National Diploma or BCom Degree in Environmental Management.
- 0–1 year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Must be a South African citizen, aged 18–35.
